Up at midnight and dad and I went out grooming. The trails up high have 12+ inches of new snow. We groomed every thing up high plus the Grouse Hill North Road { 7 south from the 4 and 7 intersection at RD68 about a mile to the log landing} and The CCC Road from RD67 to the plowed section in North Shrewsbury. The Green Mountain Snowfliers asked us to do this for them.We went as far as 2+ miles north of RD65 on 4&7 and about 1.5 miles north of RD 651 on 407. We stopped because the snow was getting really thin. I hope we don’t get alot of rain tonight and tomorrow. Get out and ride while you can! There are open waterbars in some spots and I saw where riders had problems with some ditches that might normally be filled with snow so Ride Safely and Ride Right!
Sno-Birds Trails March 1 2012
Dad said that there is 9″ at his house in North Shrewsbury! We are going to go out and try to groom up the trails as far as the snow allows starting at 1:30 tomorrow morning . I will post a report when we get back. Remember that there are going to be hazards on the trails because we still don’t have a good base, go figure at this time of the season! Ride Safely and Ride Right!
Shrewsbury Trails January 22, 2012
Dad and I went out packing and opening the two trails that come into the Stone House. We cut out some down trees. The trails are rideable but not what we would like to see. We did see several riders out. Any hills that are steep are getting chewed up. Hope we don’t loose too much on Monday and Tuesday with the warm temps and rain. If any one knows of trees down or a dangerous area let us know. Ride Safely and Ride Right.
January 9, 2012 trail report
I did not think that it would be so far into the season with no rideable snow, but that is the case. There is a possible storm coming up the coast this week! We will have to wait and see. We did 240+ hours of equipment usage on the trails to repair the storm damage and repaired 7 bridges, one of them twice! I talked about it in the next issue of the VAST News. We have two areas that ar not passable this year. Trail 407 from RD 16 to RD651 has 2 bridges gone and trail#4 from RD67 [the black swamp road – ccc road intersection] to WR80 [ccc road – route 100 intersection] is closed because of a MAJOR WASHOUT. Do not try to travel in these closed areas, your life may depend on it! If we get some rideable snow I will post it. Our club meetings are the second tuesday of every month at 7:00 at the South Station on Main Street in Rutland . Every one is welcome and encourged to attend. Ride Safely and Ride Right!
April 3, 2011 Trail Report
I groomed most of our trails early this morning. The high elevation trails are in great shape! There was several inches of new snow. The closer that you get to RT4 is where you find the, less snow, past rd650 heading north and west. The is still great rideing and no water crossings that sleds have to go thru. Early morning rides will be the best, like this morning the sunrise was beautiful! It does not get much better than that! Ride for spring conditions and ride safely! When I get all the stats for the grooming season I will post them for every one.
March 30, 2011 Trail Report
Riders out last night left the parking lot at the Notch Road and rode to RT 103. They said the trails were GOOD and holding up very nice for spring conditions. More snow later in the week! If any one has photos or stories about rides in Shrewsbury please send them to limark@optonline.net. Thank You.Ride safely!
