Where: Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation,
District Office, 271 North Main Street, Suite 215, Rutland, Vermont
When: Tuesday, December 13, 2016 – 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources’ Rutland District Stewardship Team is beginning the Long-range Management Planning process for Aitken State Forest. Purchased in 1912, the 918-acre state forest has served as a location for many forms of recreation, firewood, hunting, and timber management activities for over 100 years.
Members of the Rutland District Stewardship Team will present results of natural resource inventories and assessments in an open house format. The meeting will feature individual stations that display resource inventory findings and maps along with educational information. There will be an opportunity at each station for conversation with the stewardship team who are prepared to answer questions and solicit comments about Aitken State Forest. General information about Aitken State Forest is found here.
With no formal presentation in the open house format, people can attend at their convenience and leave when they wish, without missing anything.
If you can’t attend the meeting but have questions or comments, or would like more information about the meeting, please correspond through the following email, by January 20, 2017.
